Why make the thing?
Objective:
-I think the point of having any kind of skill or craft is to use it to create value for not only your own life, but for others. In the context of filmmaking, my craft is used to tell interesting stories that provoke, challenge and enlighten.
-The career implications I want to produce as a
result of these projects is to make myself appealing as a feature film director. “Merman” along with “Kylie” and my other film projects are essentially advertisements of my abilities.
Why is this film important?
What’s special about the film is that no matter where you come from or who you are, you can probably relate to some part of Andre. And by virtue of this, when you see him in the other facets of his life, you can then emphasize with those parts of him as well.
The viewer should recognize that people face bigotry and adversity layered.
Ultimately the film should depict the human experience as a dynamic, changing and multidimensional marathon.
