HAMISH ANDERSON'S

THIRD STUDIO ALBUM

ELECTRIC COVER ART by Andrew McGranahan.JPEG

⚡️GET ELECTRIC⚡️

Prepare for a wickedly seductive ride as Hamish Anderson unleashes his third studio album “ELECTRIC”.

"ELECTRIC '' was recorded at East West, in Hollywood, CA and showcases Hamish Anderson's prowess in reviving the golden era of rock while injecting a modern edge.

Dialing up the volume, Anderson describes the album as a “Love Letter to the Electric Guitar.” The result is a stellar high-energy album with a clear and unified vision that catches the energetic raw band vibe of ’70s blues rock but updates it with modernised, forward-thinking arrangements across 11 original songs & one cover.

Sonic gems like “You’re Mine” & “Late In The Evening” show Anderson expressing his unique voice as a writer while also paying fuzzed-out homage to the understated blues rock licks of The Faces, T-Rex, and Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac. The buoyant and catchy “Stir Crazy” finds him grooving in the vein of early ’80s ZZ Top, while the slow smouldering “Brighter Days” suggests a hip remodelling of a classic Curtis Mayfield, Al Green-styled ballad. Not to mention the feel-good rock and roll track “So Alive”, which Rolling Stone (Australia) featured in their review, encapsulating a mixture of rock & roll, soul & modern blues. “ELECTRIC” also finds Anderson sharing production duties with David Davis (The War On Drugs, Keith Urban, Miguel).

“ELECTRIC” is a testament to Anderson's unwavering dedication to his craft and his love affair with the electric guitar.

From Hamish:

“This album is my love letter to the electric guitar. From the moment I first got one and it set my imagination on fire and how it still does. How it gave me a lifeline and added purpose and meaning to my life. Whilst going into this album, I didn’t want to be shy about who I am. I wanted to take all of my influences and mix them up into something that is my own and represents my past, my present and future.

I remember when everything, including touring, stopped, I went back to being 12 years old. In my bedroom with an electric guitar and rediscovering that kid who would sit in his room playing along to records by Buddy Guy, Hendrix, Jeff Beck etc. I had no goal other than to play and let what I was hearing set my imagination on fire. It freed me up from constantly having to think of what was my next move and when the next gig was coming. It started a process of what was about 2 years of just working on songs.

I found that I really missed the sound of drums, I really craved that feeling of locking in with a loud drummer and sitting in a groove. Because I couldn’t play with anyone I decided to go deep on the demo process, which I had never done before. I would pull drum samples from everyone from Bowie to Al Green to The Ronettes and build these layered and detailed demos which was totally new for me. I knew stylistically this record was going to be about the electric guitar and drums.

Now when I think back in a sense, these songs represent longing. Longing for the world you’ve imagined for yourself and also the struggle and fight of the one you are actually living in at this moment, but that you know, if you just keep going and you keep growing, that you’re going to make a better world. It’s about being locked away from the world and going through that self discovery where you have to finally, after years of being able to dodge it, look yourself in the mirror and really say who am I? The one consistency through it all is my guitar and writing songs so I focused on how that makes me feel alive, connected to the world and understanding of it a little more.

I’m incredibly proud of ELECTRIC and feel it’s my best work to date. The album truly represents myself and my musical vision. A mixture of modern blues, rock & roll and soul.

Please play it loud.
